Managing Editor - Publishing

Job description / Role

Our client, a large publishing house, is currently looking for a Managing Director. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for the overall editorial strategy and the editorial voice of the company, and ‘brand ambassador’ for all company products and services. Directly managing the editorial team and providing direction to the creative team, as well as collaborating with the Digital Manager, Events Manager & Sales Director. A key element of the role is also developing new product initiatives that will support the commercial objectives of the company and advising the CEO regarding opportunities and areas of growth through innovative and creative ideas.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you need to meet the following criteria:
• Minimum 5 years of Managing Director (or similar) in the UAE
• Bachelor degree in English language, Journalism, Economics or Politics
• In depth understanding of the banking and financial services industry and competitive media
• Strong track record of developing market-leading print brands and understanding of digital content strategy
• In-depth understanding the news and information needs of our readers and how other channels (digital and events) combine to deliver integrated marketing solutions for clients
• Ability to create detailed editorial strategies and clearly articulate plans for future developments
• Experienced manager who can proactively lead and inspire the editorial team and deliver on KPI’s
• A real sense of urgency to work within deadlines for daily content production across digital and print
• Excellent writer with natural flair, command of English language, grammar and attention to detail
• Excellent communicator with a collegiate approach to teamwork and supporting commercial operations
• A creative and entrepreneurial thinker with good commercial acumen and presentation skills
• Decisive, diplomatic & objective
• Strong digital capabilities and understanding of latest developments o Social Media Platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) o SEO and analytics o General Open Source CMS o Basic HTML
