Ref: RP576-02

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Study Room is a Child Skills Development Learning Center that offers tuition to children and adults. At The Study Room, we are getting ready to announce the launch of our new online platform for supply teacher placement and management. The Staff Room will provide a supply (substitute) teaching support service to schools. We are offering a full-service option in which our qualified teaching staff will be available to provide cover for school teachers on a short to medium term basis. The Staff Room has developed a digital platform to make this process seamless and transparent. We aim to ensure the quality of education remains high despite teacher absences. If schools are fully capable of providing their own supply teachers, The Staff Room is prepared to support schools in saving time and money by managing their current supply teacher pool.

Teacher Placement Responsibilities:
• The MCA will be responsible for preparing The Staff Room website and substitute availability lists beginning at 6:00 am for every day of the academic calendar.
• The MCA must be aware of the start times and placements of the teachers of The Staff Room at all times and locations.
• The MCA will be responsible for the maintenance of The Staff Room website placement tool to increase the automaticity of the placement process. Any technical issues will be fed back to the Director of Business Development.

School Communication:
• It is the MCA’s role to reach out to schools to inform them of the services of The Staff Room. This can be but is not limited to cold calling, school visits and attending educational fairs. Any connections made by the MCA that lead to a successful contract being signed between the school and The Staff Room will be awarded a commission. The MCA will also maintain communication with contracted school clients via email and phone as well as request and respond to feedback from schools on substitute performance, effectiveness and response.

Substitute Communications:
• It is the MCA’s role to reach out to substitute teachers who are able and willing to serve with The Staff Room. This can be but is not limited to reaching out to prospective substitutes and assisting them with the gathering and organizing of the work permit documents. Any connections made by the MCA that lead to the successful contract being signed between an available substitute and The Staff Room will be awarded a commission. The MCA will also maintain communication with the substitute teachers via email and phone as well as request and respond to feedback from the substitute on the school's organization and treatment of the substitute teacher.

Marketing:
• Marketing of The Staff Room is the responsibility of the MCA. It is their role to develop a marketing strategy and plan that will target a selected group of schools. The MCA will be responsible for submitting the marketing strategy to the Managing Director and the Director of Business Development along with an allocated budget and timeline for implementation. Future action plans will be based on the success of the balance of school and substitute subscriptions.
• The MCA will be responsible for the social media accounts related to The Staff Room. The MCA will be responsible for tracking the success of each of the social media accounts in order to strategically target clients for future business development.
• The target market for The Staff Room is currently the Middle East international schools but plans to expand to all schools in the Middle East. In the future, The Staff Room will expand to all international schools and substitute teachers in concentrated international school areas (i.e. Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Beijing, etc). Future marketing campaigns and subsequent commision has great potential.
• As the digital interface expands to mobile applications, it will be the MCA’s responsibility to work with the Director of Business Development to make suggestions on efficiency and effectiveness of the applications, teacher placement and communication.
• Transportation costs, mobile phone charges and entertainment charges for the MCA initially will not be covered in the marketing budget. For each successful phase of marketing development, the MCA will add one aspect of additional expenditures to be covered by The Staff Room.

Professional Responsibilities:
• Meets regularly with the management team to communicate feedback from schools, website development and budgetary requirements.
• Maintains accurate records and is efficient and effective in demonstrating the progress of The Staff Room towards The Staff Room goals.
• Communicates with schools using the official The Staff Room communication documents to promote engagement in the instructional program.
• Relationships with colleagues are supportive and cooperative.
• Attends The Staff Room events and makes a valuable contribution to The Staff Room development and growth.
• Actively participates in training and professional development opportunities.
• Be available for management of PRO services ensuring visa and work permits are granted.

Professional Development and Opportunity:
• The Staff Room ensures that high-quality teachers are placed in respectful and engaging schools to continue student learning. We encourage creative problem solving and broad-scoped thinking.
Only by continuing to develop professionally can we develop a strong and sustainable business that serves our educational community.
• The Staff Room’s potential for market share is exciting. According to Dubai Facts website, the number of schools open for enrollment for 2018 is 216 in Dubai alone. Within those schools, there are 86 schools who have a k-12 school population with a curriculum that is UK, USA, Canadian, International or Choueifat.
• There are 33 schools who teach UAE national curriculum or UAE/USA/UK curriculum. Just in the Dubai region, there are many more schools opening every year.

According to the Dubai government statistics, for the 2016-17 school year, there were 303,237 students enrolled in schools in the Dubai area. If the average class size is 25 students, then we can calculate that there are 12,130 teachers in the Dubai area alone. With a market of 213 schools and a pool of 12,130 teachers, there is a very large market for teachers and schools who are in need of qualified short-term substitute teachers. At this time, there is no single substitute teacher agency serving these schools and teachers. It is becoming an increasingly noticeable gap in the market that we would like to capture and hold a majority of market share before other human resources companies become aware.

It is estimated that schools pay between 900,000 aed to 1,300,000 aed per year to supply substitute teachers for their classrooms. We would only ask schools to pay 5,000 - 8,000 aed per year for our services. We believe that many schools will join our service which will entice more substitute teachers to sign up for our services.
Recently, the DSIB framework has stated: “The school has ready access to appropriately qualified supply staff and has good arrangements for ensuring that they are able to operate effectively when they are in the school.” The Ministry of Education is beginning to understand the importance of substitute teacher placements in the region.

Salary:
AED 12,000 to 15,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Additional benefits: For the first three months of this contract, the MAC will need to reach a goal of signing 10 schools to an annual contract. The schools can be a mix of Premium and Executive membership status. The MAC will also need to recruit and add to the TSR substit
