Employment: Full Time

This is an opportunity to join KEO in the role of Mechanical Engineer - Level 3 (BIM)

Responsibilities:
- Assist Level 1&2 engineers to execute directives from project lead/senior engineers to conduct engineering calculations and prepare construction documentation. Attend project coordination meetings with architects and other disciplines, and assist lead/senior engineer in taking meeting notes and preparing minutes of meetings.
- Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations to Clients, owners and architects. Produce Revit models coordinated with architectural and structural designs. Compile project folders and maintain project information on the relevant project job number.
- Assist lead/senior engineers in measuring project progress. Coordinate with ID Consultant to assist in preparing reflected ceiling plans. Prepare one line diagrams, controls drawings, riser diagrams, schematic drawings, system diagrams, block diagrams and the like. Mentor and review the work conducted by Level 1&2 engineers and conduct design checks in line with QA/QC requirements and procedures.
- Prepares control strategies, code and compliance reports and sustainability requirements with Level 1&2 and senior engineers. Prepare responses to Client comments and coordinate with PMCM/PMI engineers for constructability issues. Reviews and updates the design criteria report in coordination with the lead/senior engineers. Assist to answer RFIs from site engineers and visit site to monitor construction progress where relevant.
- Use Autodesk Revit tools to present design and engineering solutions.
- Research, plan, design and develop building engineering systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and electrical, in strict consultation and coordination with project lead/senior engineer.
- Work under supervision of the project lead/senior engineer to perform engineering evaluations, feasibility studies, conceptual and final design, cost estimates, and engineering calculations.
- Assist project lead/senior engineer in administering contacts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Prepare and document calculations complete with support references to codes and standards, scan and locate in the project folder under the correct project number for future access by any member of staff located in any of the KEO offices.
- Prepare data and QA/QC document sheets for the QA/QC reviewers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the project lead/senior engineer.
- Manage activities under supervision within own field of responsibility.
- Apply technical aptitude to tasks to solve day to day problems, always willing to learn new skills.
- Use initiative to ensure work processes, procedures and systems are effective and efficient.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the team by identifying with and participating in the attainment of team objectives, communicating and sharing knowledge.
- Build understanding of design, construction and project management concepts.
- Document all designs in accordance with requirements of design practice manuals.
- Communicate effectively at all levels to support collaborative work practices and achievement of team goals.
- Manage own continuous development and support the development of colleagues.
- Maintain Client focus in the delivery of services of the team.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety legislation and KEO H&S policies.
- Align work practices and processes with KEO sustainability principles.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Certification in relevant BIM program.
- Relevant engineering discipline.
- Membership of internationally recognized engineering institution.
- Fluency in English, verbal and written. Proficiency in other languages, especially Arabic, will be highly regarded
- Registered as professional engineer with recognized program.
- Requires a minimum of 5-7 years of engineering experience
- Understanding of advanced building services engineering principles.
- Sound technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Statistical data analysis experience.
- Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards as well as industry practices.
- Thorough knowledge of energy and sustainability requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of local authority requirements and regulations.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and related engineering software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
