Opportunity

The project is a development of an area of land of 10,835,456 square meters targeted as a high-quality residential community. The project will be divided into districts offering golf course, villas, townhouses, apartments, parks, retail, different sports, activities fields, schools and mosques. Parsons scope will compromise consultancy services for the landscape design adoption and construction supervision to the public areas and the rights of way areas within the residential villas.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer provides a focal point for all mechanical engineering issues throughout the construction contract by reviewing contractor’s mechanical submittals, visiting the site and taking a lead role in the commissioning of mechanical equipment.

The Mechanical Engineer has up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, international codes/standards and possess a broad knowledge and experience of mechanical works in large infrastructure projects complemented by practical experience.

Specific Responsibilities

• Provides of mechanical engineering knowledge on pumps, pipelines, surge analysis, surge suppression equipment, odor control systems, motors, HVAC, FM200 systems, firefighting systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Ensures contractor compliance with applicable engineering codes and standards and QA/QC systems, policies, and procedures.
• Reviews mechanical submittals including vendors, shop drawings and mechanical layout drawings, surge analysis reports and specifications for compliance with the Contract requirements and design intent.
• Comply with project QA/QC procedures.
• Consults with other discipline leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for scheduled completion of construction.
• Support the needs of other discipline leads for input to their efforts.
• Supports the construction management team during construction and commissioning.
• Provides advice concerning design or scope changes identified for review.
• Regularly visit the site to inspect the mechanical installation progress and identify non-conformances.
• Provide mechanically related insight on construction issues.
• Arrange regular meetings with the contractor to review progress on mechanical submittals and site issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 15 years of relevant work experience.
• Dubai-UAE experience is preferred.
• Large projects experience is preferred.
• Proven ability to perform in a technical lead capacity.
