Job description / Role
Our client, a leading company in the UAE, is looking for a Mechanical & Fabrication Workshops Supervisor to join their growing team in Dubai.
The main purpose of the job is to supervise and administer the repair and overhaul of rotating and mechanical equipment, machining, fabrication, wash-down and all other associated activities. Ensuring the safe and cost effective performance of the workshops and their employees in support of the company’s offshore facilities.
The key responsibilities of the role are to supervise the four key functions, including Mechanical / Machining / Fabrication & Wash Bay; to provide direct functional support to the work force by evaluating and motivating to ensure quality of workmanship is delivered to its best; to determine and schedule job priorities based on operational requirement by coordinating and planning within the department and approved vendors; to provide technical support to the field, ensuring quick turnaround of materials and equipment; to evaluate and detect failure causes of equipment; to direct the Technical Analyst to order spares and carry out vendor service within budget and at effective cost; to carry out quality Assurance Quality Control; to maintain and ensure tools and equipment are operational and fit for purpose; to maintain safety Environment (HSE) Standard and Procedures and finally to support Materials Management group in identifying potential improvements, or changes to the service and safety stock level.
Requirements
In order to apply for this role, the successful candidate must have completed secondary education, followed by 3-year mechanical Diploma or Apprenticeship in mechanical trades; be fluent in the English language, both written and oral and capable of writing and interpreting technical reports and being computer literate in Window's based programs, with a minimum of six years’ experience in repair, strip down and overhaul of rotating equipment used in the oil and gas industry. Experience with crane/ forklift operation is essential and also a thorough understanding of the oracle systems. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, motivated to achieve team goals, customer oriented and capable of working independently with minimum supervision.
