Mechanical Lead (Nuclear) – Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Mechanical Lead ensures safe, reliable, and efficient mechanical maintenance during online operations and outages at a nuclear power plant. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and modifications while ensuring compliance with nuclear regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement work packages, procedures, and schedules for mechanical activities.
• Lead and supervise maintenance work, ensuring adherence to outage milestones.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve issues and implement modifications.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in mechanical systems and operations.
• Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage evaluations.
• Collaborate with various departments to align on schedules and maintenance needs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Work with contractors and vendors to ensure quality and timely service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7-10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and leadership roles within a nuclear power plant.

Skills:
• Expertise in mechanical systems, including valves, actuators, pumps, compressors, and piping.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance capabilities in nuclear or industrial settings.
• Knowledge of industry codes, safety standards, and regulations.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure, especially during outage maintenance.
