Job description / Role
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join the award winning regional construction team based in Dubai. The firm's renowned construction dispute resolution ability means that they are well-equipped to handle litigation and transactional work with ease. Most of the projects are on a large scale and have a high profile within the local and international construction market.
Job requirements
The role involves:
- Managing a caseload of mainly contentious construction matters
- Assisting Partners with advisory work during project construction phase
- Drafting and assisting with the negotiating a wide variety of building/ engineering contracts
- Providing advice on warranties, guarantees and appointment documentation
- Assisting Partners in delegation of work to and supervision of juniors in team
- Working closely with clients and continually developing the aptitude to foster long term client relationships
- Active participation in practice group business development
Requirements
- Strong academic background and training from a recognized international firm/practice
- At least 3 - 6 year's construction experience gained at a reputable law firm with a strong reputation in the field of construction litigation.
- An ability and willingness to work on both contentious and non-contentious matters is essential.
- Regional experience with a focus on UAE matters is necessary; however candidates based outside the region with previous Middle East experience should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of international arbitration.
- Proven track record in taking a lead role in complex and high $ value litigation.
- A real interest in marketing/business development and the ability to foster long term relationships
- A willingness to assume responsibility and take a pro-active and commercial approach to issues
