Gulf Business Unit is one of the 5 Business Units within North Africa and Middle East MCO. The BU consists of 5 countries- UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar and operates on a hybrid model of Joint ventures and Distributor management. The business has a turnover of apx 500 M Euros and is one of the most profitable businesses within Unilever. Customer Development as a function consists of apx 250 employees.

Job Position: NAME & NR IM/Performance Manager
Function: Finance

Reports to: NR Performance Director & FET Lead NAME.

Scope: IM / Overheads / Performance Mgmt
Location: Dubai

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

• Lead performance management for NAMETRUB and NAME, develop and standardize the tracking tools and processes, monitor performance, support 3 years strategic plan and track strategy execution.
• Lead development and implementation of a technology and information transformation plan for the FET in conjunction with IT
• Drive information simplification and value
• Govern and control information management (IM) and usage
• Drive efficiencies and identify opportunities to centralize
• Provide a value-add information and reporting service and lead IM capability building
• Provide regular decision support within the MCO
• Own the end-to-end cost and budget control process, including tracking, monitoring and intervening to deliver improved business performance on the area of overheads.
• Own the IM MEC activities and the coordination with internal & external teams.
• Lead efficient & quality monthly reporting.

Main Accountabilities

Insight generation
• Support the business in generating its own insights and support the local market with management reporting requirements for Cluster / Global
• Eliminate reports which are not used / duplicated, harmonise reports and manage information gateway (security, publisher) through report governance / change controls
• Ensure data accuracy for reporting and updated hierarchies by maintaining master data and coordinating data cleansing where required (review and sign-off of cost centres, hierarchies, price position etc.)
• Act as the first point of contact in the Cluster and MCO for I&A capabilities

Tools, data management and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with the One View team to bring emerging developments into the MCO FET and identify opportunities to leverage the skills of the ETS team
• Build the FET App store, ensuring full integration with the existing Unilever App store and accessibility for CD, Marketing & Finance via mobile phone, tablet, and laptop
• Develop a FET portal and online training programmes for CD, Marketing, SC & Finance
• Automate existing and future Finance Excellence Team tools to minimise manual updating & inputs and dramatically increase team efficiency e.g. by converting existing Excel tools (where possible) to the best platform or system for the job at hand

Month end closing (MEC)
• Lead Quality and timely MEC activities across NAME and NAMETRUB
• Drive simplification and standardization for all the end to end process

Budget Control (Overheads)

Business partnering and insight
• Review standard reporting around overheads for NAME
• Act as the first point of contact for all cost and budget control queries, identify trends and insight related to spend, intervening and advising budget owners where required
• Collate, challenge and submit the cost and budget control forecast (overheads)
• Perform ad-hoc analysis as required

Process ownership and delivery
• Drive consistency across categories and continuously improve accounting, controlling and reporting processes relating to cost and budget control (overheads)
• Govern the standard Budget and Cost Management reports, identifying changes and managing changes
• Maintain master data and coordinate data cleansing where required
• Understand and implement ZBB (Zero Based Budgeting) recommendations
• Train the Business on key self-service tools and reports

• Strong analytical skills, Excel modelling skills and attention to detail

• Strong engagement, presentation and communication skills
• Ability to work fluidly with data and across systems (existing reporting tools)
• Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
• Good organisational awareness and ability to work collaboratively (particularly with stakeholders in IT and ETS)
• Strong team leadership skills (applicable to roles with direct reports)

Relevant Experience
• Experience in driving process simplification and improvements
• Experience in Finance reporting or Financial Controlling to manage Over heads.
• Experience managing a large and complex set of stakeholders
• Experience in driving P&L performance improvements (e.g. closing gaps vs. target) and holding others accountable (particularly peers and senior leadership)
• Experience in presenting to and communicating with senior Finance and non-Finance stakeholders
• Experience in presenting technology concepts to non-Technology savvy stakeholders for new projects.
