Employment: Full Time

The role is to provide a high quality of care and education to meet the intellectual, developmental and emotional needs of the children. The teacher is to supervise the end to end learning process of the children they supervise and ensure a positive environment that will encourage participation and learning.

It is the teacher’s responsibility to maintain the high standards and practices of the Nursery in providing holistic care for children and families. They are to work closely with teaching assistance and other nursery staff in order to guarantee children’s development.

- Plan and implement an effective child development program, lessons and daily activities to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child.
- Provide support for all children inside and outside the classroom
- Facilitate and guide the children during activities, demonstrate the exercise and keenly observe and monitor the children as the they practice the same
- Actively interact with children and develop strong relationships ensuring that a warm and positive approach is taken to their development, and that their individual needs are accommodated and respected at all times
- Work with nursery staff to support all care giving routines, report health conditions that needs immediate attention and ensure that health and safety needs of children are documented and met through regular health checks, safety scans, sanitary practices and fire & evacuation drills
- Plan and coordinate the preparation of environments, materials and other resources for use by the children, and subsequently assist in the clean-up of resources and reordering of the classes
- Develop a relationship with parents and caregivers to become partners in their child’s education
- Communicate with other team members to ensure the effective communication of information such as special needs of children, directions from parents, challenging issues, situations or risks
- Resolve conflict with and between children using proactive strategies and problems solving steps
- Coordinate the preparation of a safe, nurturing environment to support the developmental needs of all children
- Perform daily reviews of equipment and materials to ensure availability and safety
- Coordinate with team to ensure materials and equipment are cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis
- Monitor and document daily observations of child development to be used in planning activities, developing individual support strategies and tracking developmental change to build a profile of information towards portfolios
- Complete written documentation using the Child Observation Record (COR) and share with parents in report form
- Handle inquiries, complaints and suggestions in a calm and fair manner
- Meet, communicate and share information of interest with parents/guardians and discuss support strategies for the child and relay child’s significant development
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality – all confidential matters to be shared with Nursery Manager
- Document suspected child abuse and immediately share this information with the Nursery Manager
- Ensure children are released only to authorized person(s)
- Participate in professional development and training programmes as required
- Coach and provide information, support and feedback to teaching assistants
- Remain up to date with current Early Childhood practices.
- Act as substitute teacher and multi-task in the absence of other teachers.

Requirements

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Three years teaching experience in an ECE Programme
- Fluent in Writing and Speaking English
- Preferred Western National, Native English Speaker
- Competent in facilitating children’s intellectual, personal, emotional and social development
- Competent in dealing with conflict resolution/ positive behaviour management
- Flexible Team player – work collaboratively with all staff
- Excellent Teaching and Classroom Management Skill
- Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
