Job description / Role

Objective of the Role:
The IT Officer is responsible for designing, developing, overseeing, and maintaining all aspects of the company’s IT infrastructure. The role ensures systems are secure, efficient, and operational to support the company’s business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain Computer Systems:
• Monitor and review company computer systems, from servers to security programs, to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Configure and implement system upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Perform backup processes and assess systems to ensure data protection.
• Maintain efficient performance of servers, printers, and personal computers, while attending to other operational tasks.

Complete System Installs and Upgrades:
• Install, configure, test, maintain, and administer new and upgraded networks.
• Ensure smooth deployment of system updates with minimal disruption.

Manage Software, Databases, Servers, and Workstations:
• Conduct regular analyses of computer systems to identify performance gaps or required upgrades.
• Develop or adapt network programming to support business needs.
• Implement and manage network security measures to protect the organization.
• Install and manage updates, patches, and system monitoring for spyware or viruses.
• Create and enforce strong password policies and security procedures.

Oversee Data Storage and Retrieval Systems:
• Implement effective backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
• Maintain data retrieval protocols to ensure business continuity in emergencies.
• Regularly assess and update data storage solutions for security and efficiency.

Working Conditions:
• Regular office hours, indoor environment.

Reporting Lines:
• Reports to: Manager – IT
• Internal Reports From: N/A

Financial Accountability:
• No direct financial approval or spend responsibilities.

Key Deliverables:
• Stable and secure IT infrastructure.
• Timely resolution of IT issues.
• Reliable backup and disaster recovery systems.
• Improved efficiency of IT systems and services.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar IT role.
• Background in IT help desk, network management, or IT infrastructure support.
• Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
