Operations and Maintenance Manager

Job description / Role

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead the end-to-end operation and maintenance of all energy assets, including solar PV plants, HVAC systems, and building energy infrastructure. Ensure optimized performance, reliability, and lifecycle value across the portfolio, aligning O&M activities with asset management and commercial objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and achieve company objectives, particularly in energy efficiency retrofit projects.
• Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and management of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance.
• HSE Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on HSE standards.
• Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvements as needed.
• Energy Savings: Ensure the implementation of Energy Savings Measures (ESMs) and achieve the required savings.
• HVAC Operations: Manage HVAC building operations and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Measurement & Verification (M&V): Conduct M&V activities to verify energy savings and project performance.
• Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project alignment and successful outcomes.
• Solar PV Operations: Manage day-to-day O&M of ground-mounted and rooftop solar PV systems, including inverters, modules, transformers, and SCADA. Ensure generation targets, performance ratios (PR), and availability KPIs are met.
• Asset Performance Monitoring: Oversee real-time monitoring, fault detection, and remote diagnostics for PV assets and other energy systems. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Design and execute maintenance plans using CMMS or digital tools for all assets (PV, HVAC, BMS). Include thermography, IV curve testing, string monitoring, and predictive analytics.
• Grid Interface & Compliance: Ensure PV systems comply with grid codes, interconnection standards, and utility reporting requirements. Coordinate outage planning and switching operations.
• Lifecycle Asset Management: Support budgeting, CAPEX/OPEX forecasting, spare parts strategy, and refurbishment planning for all energy assets.
• Performance Analytics & Reporting: Generate periodic performance reports (PR, degradation, downtime, MTTR, MTBF) and propose optimization strategies.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Extend HSE and regulatory oversight to solar PV installations, high-voltage systems, and grid interconnections.

• Proficient knowledge in computers and should be able to operate spreadsheets and word programs.
• Knowledge of administration and record keeping

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering or other relevant degree.
• Certifications: Professional certifications in operations management, energy management, or related fields.
• Experience: Strong Experience in the O&M, related to HVAC
• Strong knowledge of solar PV system components, operations, and maintenance best practices.
• Familiarity with SCADA, remote monitoring platforms, and performance analytics tools.
• Experience with electrical safety, grid integration, and utility coordination.
• Ability to manage hybrid portfolios combining PV, HVAC, and energy efficiency assets.

• Good written and spoken English
• Good at computing, English skills both oral and written,
• Hindi/Urdu – Oral Communication
• Arabic is a plus
• Valid UAE D/L - Mandate

Note
Working Conditions:
Environment: Office (At one of the sites) setting with frequent travel to various operational sites.
Hours: Full-time position, may require overtime or weekend work depending on operational needs
