My client is one of the largest and most well established engine, turbocharger and ship servicing companies in the world. Based in Europe, their Dubai facility deals with the shipping industry, focusing on repair, overhaul and servicing of a variety of diesel engines. They also operate within the power industry and have a massive regional footprint in the market. They're looking for a dynamic individual to head up their service department, covering both operations management and the development of new business across the region.
The role covers workshop, project planning and technical services for a variety of high profile clients from the maritime, oil and gas and power generation sectors. You'll be heading up a large team of engineers, technicians and workshop staff and assisting in projects large and small. The role also has accountability for P&L for the department, so commercial knowledge is imperative.
Requirements
The client is looking for a candidate with a hands on background working for either an OEM or service company that focuses on medium speed diesel engines. Due to the complexity of overhaul operations in the maritime industry, you'll need an intrinsic knowledge of planning and execution of service contracts and projects as well as experience in managing large teams of engineers to meet tight deadlines. You'll also be expected to generate new business for the company and nurture existing business relationships. Previous experience as a department head, or as an operations manager are strongly preferred, and you will require at least a diploma in a relevant engineering discipline with 8 years minimum experience.
