Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse to join a leading healthcare organization in Dubai. The PCICU Nurse will be responsible for providing specialized critical care to infants and children with complex congenital and acquired heart conditions, including patients recovering from cardiac surgery. The ideal candidate must have strong clinical expertise in pediatric cardiac critical care and the ability to perform effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU).
• Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, hemodynamic status, and overall condition, reporting any significant changes immediately.
• Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other critical care devices.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and specialized cardiac treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Assist physicians during emergency procedures, cardiac interventions, and post-operative care following pediatric cardiac surgery.
• Manage patients with congenital heart defects, post-cardiac surgery recovery, heart failure, and other complex cardiac conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
• Provide emotional support, education, and guidance to patients’ families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and ongoing care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, case discussions, and continuous professional development.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, or Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care in a hospital setting.
• Valid nursing license from home country.
• Eligibility for nursing license in Dubai (DHA eligibility, license, or willingness to obtain).
• Strong knowledge of pediatric cardiac conditions, post-operative cardiac care, and critical care procedures.
• Experience in monitoring pediatric cardiac patients and operating advanced critical care equipment.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure critical care environment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Experience in tertiary care or internationally accredited hospitals is an advantage.
• Willing to work in Dubai, UAE.
