Personal Trainer

Job description / Role

The job holder is responsible for instructing or coaching groups or individuals in exercise activities and the fundamentals of sports. The role holder is also responsible for demonstrating techniques and methods of using exercise equipment, designing personal programs and providing club members with corrective measures necessary to improve their skills.

Accountabilities

Core Responsibilities:
• Performs physical assessments on new and existing members and decides on specific goals that they should accomplish over the course of the training period
• Monitors member’s progress and adapts programs as needed
• Suggests ways that members can adjust their diet to meet their weight or fitness goals
• Designs and directs workout programs that are tailored to the member's needs and goals
• Teaches and demonstrates the use of fitness equipment, observes the members as they exercise and corrects any improper techniques
• Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment
• Administers emergency first aid, wraps injuries, treats minor chronic disabilities, or refers injured persons to physicians
• Maintains fitness equipment inventories, and selects, stores, or issues equipment as needed
• Coordinates with the Fitness Manager on the Club’s schedule
• Promotes health through membership sales, and records member information
• Contributes to the Business’s intellectual capital initiatives by writing educational articles to be published in the monthly magazine

Self-Management:
• Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year
• Takes ownership of his/her own learning agenda by identifying development needs in consultation with the manager and agreeing on the individual development plan which goes beyond just training and development
• Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth

Requirements

Educational Qualifications and Certificates
• High School/ Diploma
• Internationally Certified Personal Training qualification or equivalent

Experience
• A minimum of 1-3 years of health club experience in a must

Skills

Language skills
• Strong English and/or Arabic language skills (written and spoken)

Additional skills

• Knowledge in human physiology
• Strong communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong teaching and coaching techniques
