Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Key purpose

The Zayed University PPP Project Plumber will be responsible to ensure satisfactory completion of minor planned and reactive maintenance,fault diagnosis and remedial repairs on all Plumbing services and its associated equipment.

Structure and reporting relationship

- Plumber will report to MEP shift supervisor to assign the day to day standard facilities Planned maintenance and reactive and corrective works.

Based on the specific requirement of the role

Key accountabilities

- Carry out the planned and reactive maintenance of storage tanks, sanitary ware, fixtures and fittings (taps, showers, thermostatic mixer valves, cisterns and others) domestic hot and cold-water system, pipework, drainage system, water treatment systems.
- Responsible for monitoring water consumption, collation of consumption figures, and update records as required.
- Responsible for monitoring daily chlorine system update records as required.
- To integrate and communicate effectively with other trade staff (Electrical, Mechanical and Civil) and assist them as required.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
- Participate in overtime, shift work and/or out of hours working as governed by the necessity to maintain continuity of operation of essential plant and systems.
- Work alone with minimum supervision and/or within a team responsible to the Supervisor.
- Participate in the Health, Safety & Risk programs including risk assessment of planned and reactive maintenance work activities.
- Participate in project work including refurbishment of existing building equipment/systems and/or new installations.
- Provide effective communication with management, peers, contractors, subcontractors, project subcontractors.
- Ensure good HSQE and Information security culture is promoted within the department and among peers.
- Carry out other duties as directed by the line manager

Requirements

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

Knowledge

- Must hold relevant and recognized qualifications in a technical discipline, or equivalent.
- Proficient and able to demonstrate a complete understanding of Plumbing maintenance services.
- Technically competent with a clear understanding of HDPE Butt joint welding, PPR, GI & MS pipes fittings associated fittings, tools and equipment.

Skills

- Able to foster good relations with colleagues and other departments and be a good team player.
- Flexibility, excellent attention to detail and ability to identify key issues.
- Able to work under stringent deadlines and high-pressure environment.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a building services and/or facilities management environment.
- Experience in building plumbing maintenance essential
