Port Engineer

Job description / Role

Handle the technical aspects of vessel operations within a designated port including to resolve technical issues, plan maintenance and ensure compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct vessel inspections, maintenance and repair to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor vessel technical condition and identify equipment breakdowns and emergencies in an effective and efficient manner.
• Plan maintenance schedules for port equipment, machinery, and infrastructure.
• Liaise with ship repair yards and suppliers to arrange technical spare parts and ensure accurate delivery and performance of vessel equipment.
• Provide assistance to coordinate vessel arrival, berthing, departure, bunkering and other vessel supply operations.
• Ensure compliance with port regulations and environmental standards.
• Maintain accurate port-related records, documentation and reports reflecting current activities, repair history and supplier details.

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

Years of Experience
• A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a similar role.

Nature of Experience:
• Strong understanding of port operations, procedures and maintenance.
• Proven experience in port engineering and vessel management.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
