Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

One position is available for full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants (RA) in the project: From kitchen to cuisine: food and cultural change in contemporary UAE, leaded by Dr Eloisa Martin, at the Department of Sociology. Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to research excellence, student advising at the undergraduate level, and have the capacity to teach effectively in advanced technology classrooms in which collaborative/ interactive as well as independent learning is encouraged. Successful candidate is expected to actively engage in all the activities of the Research and be able to train students. Experience in field research, ethnographic methods and Atlas Ti software is a must. Successful candidate is expected to contribute to the new and ongoing research efforts undertaken by the Department of Sociology at CHSS and will assist with the Unit's special projects as well as student publications and competitions Successful candidate will engage in professional development activities, such as regional networking, workshops, conferences. English is the language of instruction and communication (English).

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
PhD degree in Social Sciences or Sociology

Preferred Qualification
- PhD degree in Social Sciences Sociology
- A minimum of 2 years work experience
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).

Candidates should be dedicated to excellence in field education, with a strong commitment to high professional standards, strong communication and organizational skills. Preference will be given to applicants with a mix of professional and research experience.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of two years' experience in similar position and be comfortable in a multi-cultural environment. Knowledge of and experience in communicative instructional approaches are essential.

Applicants should be flexible, independent, and enthusiastic about the contribution to the development of Social Sciences at the UAEU.
