Preventive Conservation Unit Head

Our client is part of a unique and historic partnership project between two Countries which is unprecedented. The project, the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, establishes a long and solid relationship and will create one of the greatest attractions in the UAE and contemporary world. The project is a collaboration between France and Abu Dhabi, one of discovery, exchange and education, playing an important social role within the UAE and play an important part in developing the future history of the region.

They are currently looking for Preventive Conservation Unit Head to join the museum team. In this role you will be responsible for defining and managing the museum preventive conservation and restoration programs. You will manage the efficient running, both human and technical, of the Preventive Conservation and Restoration Workshop and establish a preventative conservation protocol, fulfilling at all times the quality criteria and the scientific and museographic ambition of the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum. You will ensure that the conservation and preservation of the collections adheres to the most advanced techniques in the field of museography.

Requirements

- You must hold Postgraduate Degree [Second cycle; Master or higher] in Cultural Heritage Management, Conservation, Collection Management, Museum Exhibition or Museum Studies.
- You must have at least 7 years of experience, including Conservation and Restoration positions in a museum.
- You shall have proven ability to design and manage the implementation of successful restoration projects and experience in dealing with the preventative conservation aspects of museums with international loan exhibitions and large permanent collections.
- Team management experience is required. English fluency is crucial, Arabic and French are a plus.
