Principal Inspector – Early Childhood

The Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has an established Schools Inspection Bureau, with responsibility for defining and evaluating school quality in the private schools of Dubai.
The KHDA is now recruiting for the following senior role:
The role of Principal Inspector Early Childhood is a key one within the DSIB. The post-holder is responsible for the quality evaluation in all the Early Childhood Education Centres in Dubai. The Principal Inspector is responsible for all inspections conducted by the Inspection Bureau within this group of early childhood education centres, ensuring that they receive a professional, efficient and effective Inspection Service, which facilitates ongoing improvement through thorough self-reviews. Principal Inspectors are also responsible for the quality review, management and performance improvement of their team of Inspectors and the interface with the stakeholders. Principal Inspectors report to the Head of Early Childhood regarding any other duties allocated as per requirements.
The Principal Inspector for Early Childhood will:
Lead and conduct inspections in early childhood education centres which fall within the Principal Inspector’s area of responsibility or as agreed with the Director of Inspections.
Be responsible for the quality of inspections and inspection reports arising from inspections conducted in early childhood education centres within their area of responsibility or others as required
Support the work of complaint investigation relating to inspections conducted in early childhood education centres
Take overall responsibility for the performance management of all Inspectors within their area and supporting others as required
Manage the process of monitoring all early childhood education centres' performance against post-inspection improvement plans
Drive performance improvement for aspects of the Inspections Bureau as determined by policy changes or internally identified areas for performance improvement
Manage and review education system report activities relating to schools and centres within their area of curriculum expertise
Work closely with the Operations team to support the overall running of the service.
Provide contingency cover for inspections across areas where other Inspectors are not available.
Post of responsibility at school or early childhood level
Education senior management level in an international environment
Understanding and experience of early childhood education provision
Understanding of international best practice in the effectiveness of early childhood education provision
Developed skills in lesson observation, evaluating teaching and learning
Practises attentive and active listening; has the patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of others even when he or she disagrees.
Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that instigate appropriate actions with regard to the development of schools
Possesses required functional and technical inspection/accreditation and school evaluation knowledge and skills to do his or her job at a high level of accomplishment; and also demonstrates active interest and ability to enhance these and related skills.
Can effectively cope with change; can handle difficult situations comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
Understanding of the religious and cultural sensitivities surrounding work in the Middle East
Fluency in English
Well developed IT skills
Team leadership, management and motivation skills
Good interpersonal skills and ability to form positive relationships and interactions with all stakeholder groups
Ability to make clear and well organized presentations to groups of key stakeholders.
