About the role

Our client is looking to hire a highly experienced and driven Principal Engineer, Process to lead the design, development, optimization, and continuous improvement of engineering processes across complex projects. This senior-level position plays a strategic role in aligning engineering practices with the client's business objectives while driving innovation, compliance, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

Process design & development
  • Lead the creation and implementation of robust and efficient engineering process systems.
  • Develop process workflows, models, and documentation that meet project and organizational goals.
  • Process optimization
  • Identify areas for process improvements to drive efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Use data-driven methodologies and analytical tools to assess and improve process performance.
  • Technical leadership
  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as the technical authority on process engineering.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support and lead the resolution of complex technical challenges.
  • Compliance & standards
  • Ensure all engineering processes align with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal quality expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate technical and procedural documentation.
  • Project management
  • Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary projects, focusing on the successful integration of process engineering deliverables.
  • Track project milestones, performance indicators, and ensure timely stakeholder communication.
  • Innovation & research
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and best practices in process engineering.
  • Champion the adoption of new tools, methodologies, and innovations that improve process design and performance.
  • Performance measurement
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor efficiency and impact.
  • Leverage data insights to drive decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Training & development
  • Design and deliver training programs to upskill staff on process tools and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Work with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, QA, and supply chain to ensure cohesive process integration.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to maintain alignment across projects.
  • Risk management
  • Proactively identify process-related risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect project integrity and safety.
  • Required qualifications & experience

    Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 8-15 years of experience in process engineering, preferably with project leadership experience.
  • Proven track record in designing, optimizing, and implementing engineering processes across complex projects.
  • Desired skills & competencies

  • Deep expertise in process design and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, EPA).
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration capabilities.
