Interested candidates should have an excellent understanding of the technical and operational issues fundamental to process and technical safety and risk engineering and management within the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. In addition, candidates should have a strong interest in business development and have good organizational and communication skills.

We work on some of the most exciting and varied projects within the sector and have a strong reputation for delivering quality technical services internationally.

Due to continued growth and workload, and our commitment to our clients to expand our consultancy business in the UAE and ME region, we are seeking to recruit an experienced, driven and influential Principal Safety Consultant / Engineer to develop and lead our Technical / Process Safety & Risk Management consultancy service line in the region.

You will have responsibility for maintaining and developing client relationships with the major operators and engineering companies that we already work with in the region, including the ADNOC group of companies, PDO, KJO, QP, BP, Shell and Maersk.

You will act as a Project Manager on a broad range of projects and be able to draw upon expertise from our other expert groups, including CFD, RAM, Human Factors, Process, Structural and Environmental, to provide an integrated solution to clients.

Requirements

Requirements:

12-15 years’ experience
Chartered Engineer/Scientist or equivalent
Significant Major Hazards Industry experience, much of it within the oil & gas sector
Proven business acumen with strong business development and management skills, with much of this having been gained in the Region
Detailed knowledge of ADNOC Codes of Practice, ARAMCO Standards and other regional key clients (QP, PDO, etc.) as well as applicable international standards
Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills
Significant experience across a range of Technical and Process Safety Engineering skills such as QRA, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, Bow-Ties, HSECES/SCE identification & performance standards, Safety Case, HSEIA Report
Comprehensive hand-on experience with PHAST/SAFETI for fire, explosion and gas consequence analysis and risk assessment
Self-motivated and with the ability to supervise and mentor junior team members
Understanding of projects, operations & integrity interfaces with an appreciation of client business risk drivers
Previous experience of working within a consultancy environment

This position comes with a highly competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with the seniority of this role. Candidates will ideally be currently based in the Middle East region but a comprehensive expatriate relocation package will be provided for the right candidate currently located out with the region.

Additional Information:

Travel to other Atkins’ offices or client’s sites in the Region and internationally can be expected
