A very unique opportunity has arisen for a Principal Vertical Transportation Consultant, to join a leading UK engineering consultancy in Dubai. This Principal Vertical Transportation Consultant role will be very outward facing and pivotal in growing the Vertical Transportation Engineering discipline across the MENA region. Overall, the successful applicant for this Principal Vertical Transportation role requires a high level of relevant expertise, local market knowledge in the UAE, client care & business development skills, and a passion for excellence in Vertical Transportation Engineering.

My clients Vertical Transportation team offers a full range of consultancy services, and has extensive knowledge and experience in the design, modernisation, installation and maintenance of all types of lifts, escalators and moving walkways.

The team provide consultancy services to clients both independently and as part of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary offering on larger projects. Their service covers a wide range of sectors, within which they provide surveys, specifications, project management, witness testing through to whole life cycle planning and costing facilities management.

The Role

Further to continuing success and growth, the team is now ready to add a Principal Vertical Transportation Consultant who can bring a wealth of experience to their existing team of VT specialists. The Senior Consultant will take responsibility for the vertical transportation input into a wide range of built environment engineering projects, working closely with VT colleagues in the UK, and engineers of other disciplines.

As a lead source of expertise, you will be required to attend and input at design meetings and provide clear advice to clients, architects and engineers (internal and external) on design issues relating to new systems, refurbishment and maintenance works.

The technical duties will include the design & specification of new lift and escalator systems, Lift Traffic Analysis, tender specification and evaluation, the management of drawing production and on-site observation and progress reporting.

The Skills

Having been educated to degree level in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering, and having gained relevant experience in a multi-disciplinary consultancy or lift manufacturer, your career to date has seen you develop your expertise in the design, commissioning and trouble-shooting of lifts and escalators.

You also possess proven experience of providing your expert insight to internal team members and third parties, including clients, contractors and architects.

Consideration will be given to candidates who are working for a lift contractor in a sales or customer facing role, and also have the requisite technical knowledge to operate in the consultancy field.
