Job description / Role
Responsibilities
- Be able to review and supervise the work of process engineering teams in feasibility, conceptual studies, pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC projects.
- Undertake review of process design work of units as required, supervise and check works of assigned engineers on the project as appropriate.
- Review the execution of process engineering activities within the budget and schedule, as well as maintaining technical integrity of the design.
- Ensure that detail design methods, standards, and data used conform with client's requirements and/or those issued.
- Be responsible for the checking or approval of basis of design, process calculations, safety-related calculations to develop the robust design.
- Review and approve process flow diagrams, P&IDs, PSFS, DPTDs, equipment and instrument specifications, process descriptions, cause and effect chart, etc.
- Review and approve dynamic simulation study, transient study, surge study, minimum metal design temperature (MDMT) study, etc.
- Review and approve depressurization studies, flare load estimation, and flare system design.
- Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and environmental and quality assurance procedures are followed.
- Review and approve safety-related calculations and provide input to HAZOP, SIL, and other safety reviews as required.
- Identify new methodology of work process required for higher productivity.
- Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of the project.
- Ensure that requirements of licensor's secrecy agreements are known and complied with in the work performed.
- Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers.
- Identify issues that impede project progress and report to project managers, engineering manager/discipline heads.
- As lead discipline engineer, when assigned on projects, responsible for managing the team of engineers, designers, and delivering the engineering requirements of the project.
- Be willing to mentor and engage in the training and development of junior engineers in the team.
- Assist project team in the preparation of planning package, scheduling, weekly reporting, etc.
- Assist as required in the preparation of pre-commissioning, commissioning procedures, and operating manuals.
- Provide assistance in manhours estimation and scheduling for proposals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including a minimum of 5 years (preferred) in GCC region.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position in mega oil and gas or petrochemical projects.
- ADNOC experience is desired.
- Process simulation software such as HYSYS, flare system analyzer, PipeNet, Pipesim, OLGA, etc., and should be a subject matter expert.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Experience of working in a multi-project/multi-disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
