A large government owned brand in Abu Dhabi are currently investing a lot of capital in their Procurement structure, with plans to recruit a locally based (UAE National) Procurement Director, Head of Procurement, Senior Procurement Manager and a number of Category Managers

As part of the senior management team within this corporate environment, the Procurement Director / Head of Procurement is responsible for helping to define, develop and implement procurement strategy with the VP of Procurement, through leadership, governance, policies and by delivering significant value through market specific strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management.

The Procurement Director / Head of Procurement is responsible for developing, implementing and delivering multiple Category strategies across assigned specialisms. This is a senior commercial and managerial role that will lead specialists to develop, implement and communicate these specific category and strategic sourcing strategies.

The role holder will work alongside senior management across the organisation and will act as a key and influential promoter of procurement best practice across the organisation.

These senior procurement positions are responsible for the performance of all category areas directly and through the effective management of his/her team. Key performance measures will be the level of savings achieved, category management and sourcing initiatives undertaken, the effective management of supply chain risk and excellent internal stakeholder management.

You will have responsibility for a significant proportion of this corporate clients expenditure and for ensuring that products and services are sourced competitively and cost effectively and to the necessary quality levels in order to meet and enhance the requirements of the business.

The job holder will be accountable for identifying and delivering multiple cost saving initiatives in order to achieve individual and Department targets and be able to clearly evidence the effect on the businesses' bottom lines.

In addition, the job holder will be accountable for:
- Setting quarterly and annual objectives for the team, aligned with business needs. Frequently meeting the team on a 1-2-1 and collective basis to motivate, develop and measure performance.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive team savings/opportunity pipeline across multiple categories.
- Assisting with budget management for the Department.
- Writing policies and reports for the VP of Procurement.
- Leading (as required) Department meetings and events (i.e. forms agenda and actively directs and contributes).
- As a procurement partner the role holder will act as a commercial expert to senior individuals within the business, helping to influence and advise on business strategy and approaches (e.g. different operating models through outsourcing, in-sourcing or engaging 3rd party partners in creative and different ways etc).
- Developing excellent relationships with key internal stakeholders across the business. Working alongside senior management to help drive efficiencies, compliance, best practice and deliver cost savings. Ensuring that Procurement is a key enabler, influencer, advisor and trusted expert in all purchasing decision making.
- Researching and identifying purchasing opportunities, project scoping, proposing and gaining business sponsorship for such project activity, and strongly influencing business management to actively participate in such projects.
- Defining and implementing strategies, best practice procurement techniques, supplier reduction, standardisation and supplier management programmes (either directly or via their team).
- the Department and to the organisation and maximises total cost of ownership savings through continuous improvement initiatives. Developing innovative solutions by challenging the status quo and the business requirements
- Maintain personal integrity with regards to commercial confidentiality and conduct supplier relationships with the highest standard of ethical conduct.

Requirements

- The Head of Procurement will be responsible for helping to define and implement purchasing best practice, strengthening supplier management & driving supplier reduction.
- The jobholder is likely to come into contact with highly commercially sensitive information on a regular basis and must maintain confidentiality at all times.
- The role also requires the job holder to consistently demonstrate following personal skills
