Procurement Engineer

Job description / Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to join the organisation on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

• Define and Maintain Supplier strategy using market and competitive data
• Review, manage and update the supplier/subcontractor to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy
• Perform regular performance review of suppliers/subcontractors to drive continuous improvements.
• Assist the Project Team in sourcing Suppliers/Subcontractors, sending RFQ’s and negotiate the best cost.
• Review and properly comprehend the Material Request before it is issued to Suppliers/Subcontractors.
• Liaise with the contract Administrator on Budget and Supply/Subcontract agreement
• Provide advice on the Shipping strategy for a project
• Perform a Technical review of the Suppliers reply to Company Material Request and clear all the ambiguities before passing the Engineering Department for review. Go through the reply and share alternative technical solutions based on own experience.
• Seek Suppliers /Subcontractor approval on the Commercial terms and ensure that they are gradually closed.
• Liaise with Suppliers on delivery schedule so as to ensure on-time deliveries to final product.
• Post-order follow up such as documentation, bonds, drawings, etc.
• Manage the logistics of delivering the material from the factory to the job site including customs and clearance in GCC and other countries
• Ensure that Company Quality standards relating to the Procurement Function are properly implemented.
• Suggest Development to the Procurement system in place

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Over 7 years of working experience
• At least 3 years of experience working as a Procurement Engineer

Ability to perform a preliminary review of the technical reply received from the supplier and clear the discrepancies before passing it over to the engineering team.
