Job purpose

As a procurement manager, you will manage the acquisition of goods and/or services in collaboration with the business/user department, contributing the required process orientation and commercial expertise. To facilitate and coordinate effective cross-functional teamwork and act as the account manager/interface between Emirates and selected high-value suppliers.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing and supplier selection: To formulate sourcing plans including negotiation strategy in conjunction with the business/user department within the confines of the department's approved budget.
  • Identify and evaluate sources of supply that meet Emirates requirements, minimizing total lifetime cost and business risk.
  • Supplier relationship management, KPIs and assessment: Establish and maintain a strong relationship with the supplier(s) that provide optimal benefits to Emirates. Create and carry out, in conjunction with the business/user department, a comprehensive supplier assessment and benchmarking process that measures the performance and quality of the deliverables, turnaround times, operational support, etc.
  • Any shortfall(s) identified to be reviewed with the suppliers and addressed with appropriate actions meeting the business/user department needs on a timely basis.
  • Stakeholder management: Proactively provide support to the stakeholders in their initiatives involving procurement function including assessment of the spend, preparation of business cases, monitoring of costs against the budgets, adherence to compliance monitoring regulations, etc.
  • Process and procedure: Ensure all processes and procedures are aligned to the group corporate policies and regulatory requirements, and documented appropriately in the EPMs. Ensure the implemented processes are continuously reviewed and benchmarked to measure and enhance the effectiveness with appropriate internal controls and reporting mechanism. Lead the team and conduct performance management through MyBC, ensure delivery of SLA and objectives of the department.

Power plant

  • Powerplant sourcing: Negotiation and management of power plant sourcing including engine and APU selection, negotiation of spare purchases, product support and repair agreements with comprehensive warranty and guarantee coverage that provide optimal and cost-effective support to Emirates operations.
  • Operational support: To liaise with the OEMs to secure required support to protect Emirates operations including negotiating leased units, commitment letters to obtain labour and material support for rectifying defects, if any, that are carried out by Emirates.
  • Redelivery optimisation: Coordinate with internal stakeholders and implement optimisation plans that enable timely and cost-effective redeliveries of operating leased units, generation of scoping documents listing the contractual redelivery requirements for engines/APU and support discussions with the lessors including negotiation of end-of-lease payments and resolving/clarifying any queries.
  • EEMC and EFTA support: Provide procurement support to EEMC including negotiation of offload agreements with the labour recharge/prices that generate positive contribution, negotiation of storefront agreement with required material support for timely performance of repair and support preparation of business cases for capability development. Provide adequate and timely procurement support to EFTA for purchase of aircraft or aftermarket (maintenance) services with terms that are cost effective fully satisfying the operational requirements.
  • Contracting: Draft or negotiate contracts that aptly capture the negotiated terms including user department requirements, operational support, cost protection, service level commitments, penalties and remedies for any shortfall in service levels. Coordinate internally with the relevant stakeholders including business/user department, compliance monitoring, finance, legal, insurance and taxation to finalise and execute the contract on a timely basis following the procurement aircraft policy procedure manual and the guidelines specified in the authorities manual.

Qualification

To be considered for this role you must meet the below requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or honours in business and/or engineering, preferably mechanical/aeronautical.
  • Engineering experience of 8 years in procurement, aircraft supply chain management.
  • Experience in an airline, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or maintenance organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of relationship structuring and of managing supplier performance.
  • Sound understanding of airline engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Strong aptitude to create, sell in and implement business processes is essential.
  • Strong project management skills in a global supply environment.
  • Ability to benchmark on a continuous basis the supply markets for a given spend commodity.
  • Previous experience with aviation line/base and engineering maintenance services would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with GCAA, FAA, EASA regulations would be an asset.
  • Specific domain aircraft expertise and authority would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills.
