Our client, a leading local bank are currently looking to recruit a program manager for a new project they have coming up in early 2018; the project is an upgrade of their T24 core banking systems which is due to last approximately 12-14 months.

Job Title: Programme Manager

Reporting to: Associate Director

Purpose of the Job:
To plan, execute, and finalise core banking transformation program according to strict deadlines and budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver the project according to plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Develops and maintain full-scale project plan and the associated required resources as well as the identification of dependencies and critical path
* Manages and directs project activities from beginning to end in order to ensure project goals are achieved and that project reporting are performed and communicated on regular basis
* Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team and maintain project risk sheets with the agreed mitigation actions
* Ensures project is completed at a high level of quality, within projected budget, scope and schedule
* Conduct post mortem reviews and document lessons learnt
* Collaborates cross-departmentally to maintain consistency, standards, and inter-dependencies across projects
* Manages inter-dependencies between various projects in coordination with the various Project Managers
* Plans and manages steering committees to provide a high-level snapshot of project status to Sponsor and Executive Team and other key stakeholders
* Leads project teams in applying control/quality assurance management procedures throughout the project
* Leads the engagement with stakeholders to communicate information in a timely and accurate manner
* Combines an in-depth knowledge of the functional area with a broader knowledge of banking operations to deliver project successfully
* Builds a high calibre team to ensure effective capability and capacity to execute project activities across the Bank
* Quickly and effectively understands business challenges and priorities while collaborating with business leaders to identify actions/activities and to translate these into project plan
* Monitors performance of resources against Balanced Scorecard KPIs on a monthly basis
* Ensures proper project governance by complying with department framework
* Provides status on project and acts as an escalation point
* Works with leadership to remove barriers
* Leads project teams in applying control/quality assurance management procedures throughout projects
* Manages vendor performance to ensure consistency, efficiency, and expected results
* Ensures knowledge transfer and handover planning is in place

Typical Experience/Knowledge required for the job:

* Minimum of 10 years of similar experience
* A sound track record in program management and delivery of complex projects
* Proven record in managing a large project team (team of 40+)
* Spearheaded at least 3 core banking upgrade/migration projects
* Preferable experience in Temenos T24 core banking and Islamic Banking
* Professional Certification in the field of relevance from an accredited local or international body
* Excellent communication skills with an outgoing personality and political sensitivity
* Conflict management ability
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Excellent writing and presentation skills
