Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

A multinational Project Management Consultancy are looking for a Project Director to join their team in Abu Dhabi, working on a confidential cultural construction project for the AD government.

The role is to lead the construction phase of a restoration project. The works have an approximate value of AED150m and are due to start on site in Autumn 2016 and are due to complete at the end of 2017. Following this a second phase of work will be undertaken and will continue into 2018.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Duties – to be fully knowledgeable of the project appointment and of the current and imminent of the project lifecycle, to maintain a relevant and valid appointment and to perform the required duties in line with company standards.
- Resources & Durations - to take full responsibility for managing resource on nominated projects. To be fully aware of the required time inputs and their durations, planned and actual, and to seek full occupation and continuity of self and co-workers. To carry out team reviews on Vision, where appropriate.
- Project Status - to be fully familiar with the status of their project(s) including time and cost against targets, company situation on invoicing, debtors, profitability and fee recovery rates as well as the Clients objectives and brief and client satisfaction of the project overall and company contribution. To identify opportunities to extend the current commission in terms of scope or duration and for further commissions from this source and to co-ordinate action accordingly.
- Training & Standards - to partake fully in company training activities and undertake continuing studies; including leading studies and CPD to achieve and maintain suitable professional qualifications and memberships; to follow company working practices and lead by example by using the correct tools to carry out work, to undertake project feedback and to use company knowledge sharing systems and initiatives to share knowledge; including supporting learning and development by leading training sessions on appropriate topics.
- Administration - to perform administrative functions in accordance with the staff handbook and general office and financial procedures; prepare internal and external project reports, maintain project records and undertake project reviews, ensuring they are completed and signed off.
- Finance – To achieve project turnover, profitability and cashflow targets for all nominated projects. To achieve the timely completion of time sheets for all resource on nominated projects and complete vision project reviews within the advised corporate timescale.
- Quality – To see that quality practices and company procedures are adhered to on all nominated projects and sign off quality plans in a timely fashion. To perform the role of quality auditor as requested.
- Project Mentoring - to proactively support the competency development of all staff and seek mentoring for self and project colleagues whenever required in order to achieve project success for the client customer and the company Encourage colleagues to follow company working practices and use the correct tools to carry out their work.

Requirements

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in UAE
- Experience of heritage and restoration projects.
- Experience of managing the construction phase on projects in the UAE
- Experience of FIDIC contracts
- Excellent management skills, with experience of leading an integrated Consultant / PM and Construction team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
