Employment: Full Time

Role Overview:

The Project Control Specialist (PCS) will be allocated medium and/or multi projects and functionally reports to the Projects Controls Lead, for the region within which he/she operates, and agrees day-to-day activities with the Program or Centre of Excellence Manager.

The PCS is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities on allocated projects, as well as the legitimacy of the work assignments for allocated projects & personnel. The PCS will ensure corporate governance, procedure compliance and will provide technical leadership to GPC personnel allocated to the PCS’s projects. The PCS will be expected to stand in for the SPC during periods of absence.

Direct Responsibility:
• Accountable for accuracy & timely delivery of all project & management estimates, reports & forecasts for costs & schedules on allocated projects including quarterly exception report
• Ensures the accuracy of earned value data on allocated projects
• Actively participates in project review meetings & provides clear, accurate project assessments & gives proactive advice to drive successful project completion
• Responsible for project control procedure compliance & standards on allocated projects
• Performs project cost risk analysis for developing project contingency budgets and maintains run down curves for continued project cost risk assessment
• Manage the receivables & payables balance on allocated projects, responsible for accuracy of invoices
• Assist PCL & SPC as required
• Stand in for Senior Project Control Specialist during periods of absence
• Prepares the final project cost/schedule reports & provides the data recovery for the company historical database

Shared Responsibility:
• Works with Program/COE Manager to assist in Business Planning & Analysis
• Will assist in resource planning, on a monthly basis, on allocated projects
• Participates in project planning processes, define scopes, establishing WBS & budgets on allocated projects
• Participate in supplier audits
• Development of project controls tools & methodology
• Periodically participates in audits of other project controls teams
• Working with Program/COE/Project Managers produce accurate cost estimates for change orders and maintain the change log
• Strategy development of Global Project Controls Organization

Requirements

Skill Requirements:
• MS Office, SAP & Primavera applications
• System development - estimating, tracking and control
• Finance & cash flow – concepts, processes, planned, actual, forecast
• Communication skills – oral, written, presentation
• Good knowledge of estimating, tracking and control
• Good knowledge of contracts
• Negotiation & conflict management skills
• Cost risk analysis/contingency management
• Total Quality Management concepts
• Proactive, helpful, constructive, integrity & open

Qualifications:
• Demonstrable leadership experience
• 4 years related experience
• Professional qualification in engineering or project management or finance.
