QA/QC Engineer

Job description / Role

Euro Mechanical is looking for experienced QA/QC Engineer to join the team in two locations (Abu Dhabi, UAE and Doha, Qatar).

The role takes overall responsibility for QA/QC operations across sites, shutdowns, and turnarounds. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, client-facing, and confident in leading inspection teams across welding, NDT coordination, valve refurbishment, hot tapping, and leak sealing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and guide a team of QC Inspectors, managing day-to-day QA/QC activities on site.
• Coordinate inspections with Client and Third-Party Inspectors, ensuring all requirements are met.
• Review project details and ensure inspection readiness (ITPs, drawings, specs, required documentation).
• Inspect fit-up, joint clearance, and material traceability on spools/vessels; verify traceability marking is maintained.
• Ensure welding compliance: correct WPS usage, verify welding parameters, and perform visual & dimensional inspection (including tie-in points).
• Manage NDT/QA records: spool marking for RT/NDT, witness repair welds, prepare NDT requests, update weld control records, PMI operation, and review documents prior to client inspection.

Valve Refurbishment (QA/QC):
• Inspect incoming valves for material verification, casting quality, and dimensional conformity.
• Verify refurbishment activities: dismantling, cleaning, machining, lapping, and reassembly.
• Inspect critical components including seats, discs, stems, and body/bonnet joints.
• Witness/verify torqueing, alignment, and functional/pressure tests (hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak) as per standards.
• Ensure calibration and correct use of testing equipment (gauges, test benches, torque tools).
• Review and finalize refurbishment reports, valve test certificates, and ensure compliance with Qatar Energy/Client requirements (including overhaul & Trevi testing) before submission.

Hot Tapping Operations (QA/QC):
• Review and verify hot tap / in-service welding procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Inspect hot tap fittings (split tees, welding sleeves) and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor hot tapping welding to ensure qualified WPS compliance and controlled heat input.
• Inspect installation of hot tap equipment (tapping machines, cutters, adapters, sealing elements) and verify alignment/fit-up (reinforcement pads, branch connections).
• Witness pressure/leak testing and integrity checks prior to tapping operations.
• Confirm prerequisites and documentation: permits, isolation, barricading, safety controls, QA/QC checkpoints, and vendor tool readiness/calibration.

Leak Sealing (QA/QC):
• Review and verify leak sealing procedures/method statements/risk assessments in line with ASME PCC-2 and client requirements.
• Inspect sealing compounds, clamps, and injection fittings for compliance with approved materials/standards.
• Verify calibration and readiness of injection pumps, pressure gauges, and monitoring instruments.
• Validate pipe integrity and operating conditions (pressure/temperature) prior to execution.
• Witness clamp installation and confirm injection fitting alignment/fit-up; monitor compound injection with controlled pressure/volume.
• Confirm sealing integrity via leak test/verification (pressure monitoring/UT, etc.), maintain QA/QC records (calibration certificates & reports), and ensure Qatar Energy/Client + HSE compliance (PTW, isolation, barricading).

• Minimum 5 years experience in valve inspection and minimum 2 years in hot tap / in-service operation inspection (site experience is an advantage)
• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• CSWIP 3.1 (minimum) | CSWIP 3.2.2 (preferred)
• NDE Level II
• Painting Certification – BGAS G2 (advantage)
• ISO / API certifications (advantage)
• Knowledge of international codes like ASME, AWS, ASME Sec IX, API 1104, PCC-1, PCC-2
