Employment: Full Time

The Quantity Surveyor is part of the shared services team and will be providing all necessary assistance to the construction supervision team with respect to all financial aspects and contractual matters in the project. He will participate in the review and approval of interim payments, the variations and other financial matters. He will assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor in the analysis and evaluation of all claims by the contractor.

Job Responsibilities:
- Review and maintain knowledge of terms and conditions of all contracts for which he is responsible for.
- Attend kick-off meetings and subsequent progress meetings with contractors and produce and distribute minutes of meetings.
- Survey and measure work in progress and check contractors’ interim payments applications.
- Value additional works, site instructions, variations and day work applications.
- Negotiate ‘star rates’ with contractors where necessary.
- Identify and report potential problem areas, particularly those that are likely to give rise to claims.
- Assist contract administrator in the analysis and resolution of contractors’ claims.
- Conduct final measure on work executed and prepare and agree final accounts.
- Assist in close-out of completed claims.
- Act as the Engineer site representative.
- Ability to realize project requirements and deliver in accordance with company/client requirements and guidelines.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to oversee and manage QS aspects of site construction activities including contractual related documentation.
- Provide support to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Perform duties in accordance with company’s highest quality expectations, health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform any other essential duties that immediate superior may assign from time to time.
- Check Contractor’s valuations.
- Check and record measure of work done.
- Check materials on site against delivery notes.
- Prepare variations and day works.
- Prepare cost estimates.
- Checks claims from Contractors.
- Assists with preparation of payments to Contractors.
- Assist with preparation of the Final Account.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Liaise with Client in financial matters as required.

Requirements

- Relevant tertiary qualification(s); BSc QS preferred.
- Professional Qualifications; e.g. MRICS.
- 5 years experience in all facets of quantity surveying including cost planning, quantity take­ off, preparation of bills of quantities in CESMM format, estimating, tender and contract document production, report writing, claim evaluation/negotiation, general post contract administration, valuation of variations, agreement of new rates, Taking Over Certificates and Defects Liability Certificates of Contracts related to infrastructure works.
- Familiar with the DM General Conditions of Contract, Quality Assurance, Quantity Surveying and Project Network Techniques (Primavera P3).
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Primavera P3.
- Confident in his own ability to control the Works.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare instructions, specifications, and reports and cost estimates.
- Capacity to make decision.
- Experience in public sector projects is preferable.
- Ability to represent the company in meetings with client representatives and in accordance with company values.
- Excellent written and communication skills (English).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm to contribute/participate in business development and growth.
