Job description / Role
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist the RE and HO Commercial Team in the provision of quantity surveying services as part of the site team. The Quantity Surveyor is charged with the responsibility of correlating information relating to all financial aspects of the project.
MAIN DUTIES
• Should be aware of all financial matters and proper maintaining of quantity books and shall advise the PM and the RE regarding all financial matters.
• Should have a thorough knowledge of the procedures and instructions.
• Should be involved with the quantity taking for the design works as per the directions of the PM and the RE and the final design drawings of each design order, preparation of Bills of Quantities as per the Contract Documents.
• Concerned with the measurement of works carried out in accordance with the specification.
• He must check that the works are to the specific grades and levels, organize his files to include:-
• Give prompt attention to and accurate recording of Contractors requests received.
• Check cross sections for earthworks submitted by the Contractor.
• Liaise with the clients QS to ensure that the methods used in calculating final quantities are acceptable.
• Check all calculations submitted by the contractors QS relating to valuations and in particular to keep accurate records of completed works.
• Prepare and submit reports of a technical nature when called up on by the PM and the RE.
Requirements
• Civil Engineering graduate with minimum 5 years of experience in Roads and Infrastructure projects.
• Familiar with CESMM method of measurement.
• Middle Eastern working experience.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure and Roads contracts.
• Resilient, hardworking and willing to work as part of a team
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge of ICE/FIDIC or other standard forms of construction contracts.
• Good knowledge of civil engineering works and general contract procedures.
• Ability to work under own initiative and lead QS teams at site.
• To develop skills of subordinate staff.
• To report to Line Manager on all issues relating to the management of staff under his control.
