Job description / Role
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
- Develop and monitor budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
Tender and Contract Management:
- Evaluate and manage tenders and bids from contractors.
- Prepare and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms.
Cost Control and Reporting:
- Conduct cost analyses and monitor project expenses.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders.
Valuation and Payment:
- Conduct valuations for progress payments.
- Assess and approve variations or change orders.
Risk Management:
- Identify cost-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Address disputes and negotiate resolutions related to costs and payments.
Quality Assurance:
- Verify that the completed work aligns with the specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with the design and construction teams to optimize value engineering.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in civil or marine infrastructure projects.
- Accuracy of cost estimates and budgets.
- Timely completion of valuations and financial reporting.
- Effective management of cost variations and claims.
- Stakeholder satisfaction.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., Primavera, MS Excel, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with standard contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC, etc.).
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
