Overview of the role
The Quantity Surveyor Manager plays a critical role in providing commercial support to project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and optimizing financial success for projects. The role involves direct interaction with clients and stakeholders, focusing on cost management, contract administration, and risk mitigation. Success in this role is driven by the ability to lead teams effectively, negotiate favorable terms, and maintain robust financial controls and reporting.
What you will do
Technical responsibilities
- Maintain overall financial control for projects, ensuring timely certification and payments within contractual timescales.
- Prepare detailed turnover and cash forecasts for complex projects, monitor results, and manage project financial reporting.
- Process variations and changes timely and accurately, aligning with contractual and governance requirements.
- Administer contract deliverables, manage claim submissions, and provide comprehensive contract support and negotiation.
- Lead risk management reviews for complex projects, implement risk strategies, and quantify construction works.
- Conduct negotiations on contractual issues and maintain thorough project correspondence using management systems.
People management
- Lead and motivate the Quantity Surveyor team, fostering professional development and ensuring contract comprehension.
- Identify and address training needs for staff to enhance development and project effectiveness.
Process management
- Implement and recommend administrative procedures to enhance operational efficiency and maximize margins.
- Ensure compliance with organizational forms and processes for internal approvals as per group policies.
Customer and stakeholder management
- Communicate complex issues succinctly and manage teams to deliver timely and accurate project outcomes.
- Engage with clients to understand requirements and manage relationships to achieve best commercial results.
Required skills to be successful
- Advanced skills in contract negotiation and administration.
- Strong risk management and change management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
What qualifies you for the role
- Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years experience in major projects, preferably in MEP contracting.
- Extensive experience in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management with strong understanding of FIDIC conditions.
- Proven track record in managing commercial aspects of large-scale projects, especially in the Middle East region.
- Proficiency in MS Office suites, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Manager.
