Irwin & Dow

Dubai, UAE

Ref: NP447-1010

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We require a dynamic and hands on Regional HR Generalist for a global shipping organisation with offices in 155 countries and a corporate headquarters in Europe. It is considered as the second largest shipping line concerning vessel capacity and operates in the region of 500 vessels at any one time. Since the inception of a corporate head office HR function in 2016, there is now a regional requirement for an experienced HR professional to step into a new role within the Dubai office.

The Regional HR Generalist purpose is to enhance stakeholder relationships across the region and support and implement the global HR projects and compliance on an ongoing basis. You will oversee the cluster offices alongside Dubai and Abu Dhabi here within the UAE, with a total headcount of 300 employees. The other locations include Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, so flexibility to travel to these areas is an essential part of this role. All locations have a small HR function, but the successful incumbent will drive the global HR agenda, policies and procedural standards and ensure all stakeholder relationships are managed in a hands-on and collaborative manner in order to maximise the impact of HR for the wider organisation. Therefore, those with an awareness of cultural and political sensitivities and how to effectively engage others to drive HR throughout the business will be most successful in this role. You will be fully involved in the development of talent management and onboarding, role evaluation and development, performance management and KPIs, compensation and benefits, learning and development and succession planning. As you will be the regional point of contact at a time when a new HRIS project is underway you will also assist in the management and training of the use of Cornerstone HRIS, however use of this system is not essential to the role.

Requirements

A HR Generalist is therefore required with excellent employee and stakeholder management development to cement the relationship within the region concerning the HR agenda. This is an extremely hands on and involved role not just within the UAE, but there is also frequent travel to the a fore mentioned countries. However, the opportunity for growth is vast, as once there is symmetry across the region the role will develop further as business and manpower continues to increase. To be shortlisted it is therefore essential that you have a minimum of 3 years of regional HR exposure and hold a relevant HR degree or CIPD qualification. You will be a pro active and switched on HR Generalist able to manage a large volume of competing deadlines and strategies, whilst maintaining an absolute people centric focus.
