Job description / Role
The Regional Regulatory Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice on new products, following new regulatory and legal developments, analyzing new laws and regulations and providing regular updates to the bank. Additionally, they will be responsible for following up with other internal stakeholders making sure the new rules are implemented in the right way and amending existing documentation and legal procedures to reflect such changes.

My client is a multinational bank based in the DIFC. My client has 5+ offices across MENA and is globally renowned across its Financial Service verticals.
Description
The Regional Regulatory Lawyer - General Counsel responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing regulatory advice in a number of MENA locations
* Assisting on MENA New Business initiatives and GC representation in such projects
* Managing local external counsel(s) in all MENA locations (appointments, engagements and control over costs)
* Providing Legal support to management, local coverage PB, IB and AM teams in the MENA region
* Working closely with product specialists across the board to support them in transactions
* Managing local litigation cases, complaints and liaising with local counsel and EMEA Litigation team
* Advising shared services departments on the relevant local Employment Laws, Data Protection Laws etc.
* Support on Corporate Governance and Corporate Secretarial requirements to all MENA entities

Requirements
Candidates that will be seriously considered for the Regional Regulatory Lawyer - General Counsel role will have the following qualifications/experience:
* LL.B. and/or LL.M. from a reputable University
* 5+ years of experience in a legal role in a financial institution or a law firm with experience in Financial Services & Banking
* Candidates based in Dubai will have preference
* Ability to to support from a regulatory perspective all offices in the MENA region
* Ability to represent the organisation in front of government and regulatory authorities is a must
* Proficiency in English, a good command of written and spoken Arabic would be an advantage
