Job description

The resident nurse, neonatal intensive care unit will record vital signs, assist doctors with a diagnosis, and complete paperwork. The role will provide direct nursing care along with physical or psychological support as and when required.

Your responsibilities:

As a resident nurse, neonatal intensive care unit, your typical day may include the following:

  • Perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation process in NICU unit.
  • Skilled in basic and advanced procedures such as managing neonates on ventilator, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hemodynamic monitoring, taking anthropometric measurements, cord and eye care, blood gas sampling analysis, E.T and tracheostomy suctioning, nasogastric tubes, caring all central lines and babies in body cool machine, activating code pink, IV cannulation, blood sampling and drug and fluid calculation.
  • Handling neonates on phototherapy, incubator and babies with Rh-negative mothers.
  • Demonstrate competency in care of critically ill newborns such as preterm babies, post term babies and low birth weight babies.
  • Assist in blood transfusion procedure, feeding, breastfeeding, storage of breast milk, and monitor the hydration status, umbilical artery catheterization, umbilical venous catheterization.
  • Demonstrate competency in neonatal resuscitation.
  • Ensure the safe transportation of neonates to nursery, ICU, ward and sterilization of all feeding equipment.
  • Knowledgeable about the immunization schedule.

Education & experience:

  • Valid registration from state nursing council.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in relevant field.
  • Knowledge about the surgical safety checklist, post anaesthesia complications and premedication.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Should be compassionate with good communication skills.
  • MOH license/evaluation is a must.
