Job description / Role
• Applying and using mixed analytical and statistical methods, including quantitative, qualitative, and computational methods to various projects and programs as need be
• Developing appropriate research questions, designing research protocols, conceptualizing methodologies, such as data collection plans, analysis plans, and data interpretation
• Designing research design and evaluation protocols (e.g., experiment research design for RCTs, sample size, randomization, power calculation, …)
• Supporting in designing, validating, and deploying surveys that improve understanding of beliefs, attitudes, behaviors
• Identifying relevant data sources and sets to mine, and collecting large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
• Designing qualitative research protocols (e.g., conduct interviews, focus groups, or observations related to behavioral topics) and report on findings
• Devising and utilizing algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve models, and clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
• Implementing predictive, statistical and econometric modeling and analyses
• Coding and analyzing data and performing quantitative statistical data analyses
• Synthesizing research findings, conclusions based on qualitative and quantitative research
• Developing data visualizations; experimenting with various technologies and tools for creating data driven insights
Requirements
• Applicable Master's degree in economics, data science, behavioral science, psychology, social sciences, statistics, or any related field
• 4+ years relevant experience with evidence of research in psychology and/or cognitive science, survey design and analysis and other human data collection approaches, RCTs or experimental methods, and/ or quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Experience using standard software packages to analyze and visualize quantitative data (e.g. SPSS, R, Stata, Tableau)
• Experience in advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and in their applications
• Experience in implementing various data visualization techniques
• Experience in working with unstructured data, and in data mining and testing
• Experience with collecting original human subjects’ data in experimental and field settings
• Ability to effectively communicate research findings
• Demonstrated experience in scientific and technical writing
• Excellent data analysis skills
• Excellent quantitative and analytical research skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in English is a must and competency in Arabic strongly preferred
