Job description / Role
Our client, a well-known FMCG company, is currently looking for a Research and Development professional with background in fresh juice production to join their growing team in Abu Dhabi.
Moving into the business on a permanent basis, you will be assisting the Development Manager in continuing the research and development of new products to add to their existing portfolio. This position will play an important role in many areas of the organisation:
Product Development
* Carry out formulation work to contribute to the company's core development.
* Investigation of new raw materials and formulae on market.
* Developing products to meet performance required by brief.
* Documenting development work in work.
* Structured approach to development process.
* Control of investigative/practical schedule.
Supplier and Customer Contact
* Maintain awareness of materials under development/market trends
* Build relationships with new and existing suppliers.
* Sample requests and backup information discussions.
* Customer updates on progress.
Sample Preparation
* Work in accordance to GLP standards.
* Co-ordinate production of samples to meet deadlines.
* Ensure samples are accurately made.
* Record all observations during sample preparation.
Communication
* Update supervisor on progress/problems.
* Coordinate with other departments - product co-ordinator/manufacturing/stores.
* Contact suppliers for materials and data.
Requirements
You will play a key role within the development team and will require the following skills and experience to be considered for this opportunity:
* Degree or equivalent in a science related course.
* Previous experience working within a commercial R&D environment, assisting in product development.
* Excellent laboratory skills.
* Innovative and flexible, able to link different concepts across product types
* Interest in new products and exploring limits of technology
* Independent, capable of working alone or contribute to small team.
