Job Description
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a 20-month full time research assistant position with a specialization in regional knowledge-based economy and GIS application. The Research Assistant is responsible for performing specified research tasks under the direction and with advice from the Principal Investigator. The Research Assistant will perform research as a majority of his/her service. Working closely with the principle investigator to assist with scholarly activities or research. Potentially includes all phases of research from design through literature review, data collection, analysis, and preparation/presentation of findings. S/he will be involved in collecting data and review studies related to entrepreneurship, innovation-driven enterprise, industrial and economic activities, regional development, transportation planning, Smart Urban Systems, mobility and accessibility, Innovation in industry and society. The candidate is expected to be skilled in using GIS, as well as accept possible changes in work tasks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
Master degree with focus in the following areas: Economic/industry geography, innovation, knowledge-based economy, and GIS application.
Proficiency in English is required. GIS/Spatial analysis competence is required Skills on Quantitative and quantitative methodological approaches is required. Ability to publish in recognized international scientific journals
Preferred Qualification
A strong international reputation and network demonstrated by publications in top journals in the field, and active participation in scientific networks. Image processing and infographic design skills are preferred.
