Job Description:

This position will primarily involve designing and carrying out research studies in experimental models of Parkinson's disease. The research projects will focus on understanding biochemical mechanisms resulting in neurodegeneration with the aim of identifying new drug targets, clinical biomarkers and therapeutic strategies for slowing disease progression. The successful candidate will have access to an excellent support network and state of the art infrastructure across UAE University. The candidate will have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with experts in the field across the campus. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop new research ideas and publish findings in high-profile research outlets.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

Master of Science (M.S.) with specialization in Neuroscience or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Cell Biology or related disciplines with demonstrated record of research accomplishments

Preferred Qualification:

Ph.D. in Neuroscience or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Cell Biology or related disciplines

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience:

The candidate is expected to have strong experience and expertise in understanding of Molecular Signaling mechanisms under diseased conditions. The candidate must be adept in handling of cell-cultures, isolation of primary neurons. The candidate must be able to perform molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, isolation of sub-cellular fractions, Western Blotting, cell transfections for gene knockout (siRNA &/or CRISPR), Fluorescence Microscopy, Protein interaction studies. The candidate should have demonstrated research productivity by first-author publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Candidates should have solid understanding of how to perform literature search, set up good experimental designs, interpret and assemble scientific data, discuss and present results in scientific forums. Excellent communication skills in English is a vital requirement.
