Job Description
The successful candidate will work with the Doctor, in the Department of Food, Nutrition and Health, UAEU College of Food and Agriculture. This project will address 'Antimicrobial resistance in food borne pathogens'. Bacterial antimicrobial resistance is reported to surpass cancer as the main cause of death by 2050. This prompts a return to the pre-antibiotic era where even minor infections can be fatal.

In this project, we will use modern molecular tools like DNA deep sequencing to address the issue of antimicrobial resistance. Fundamental understanding of the molecular aspects underpinning antimicrobial resistance will help identify new technologies that can be used to mitigate the spread of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria.

Your Job:
• The successful candidate will study the emergence of antimicrobial resistance in foodborne pathogens with Salmonella spp. as a model organism.
• He successful candidate will also use deep sequencing technologies like RNA-sequencing and conventional molecular microbiology to characterize bacterial antimicrobial resistance in great detail.

Requirements

Your experience:
• Prior laboratory experience in conventional microbiology is mandatory.
• Experience in assessing bacterial antimicrobial resistance as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications is a definite plus.
• The candidate should also demonstrate their ability to be a team player.

Minimum Qualification:
• Master's Degree in Food Science/Microbiology or closely related discipline

Preferred Qualification:
• Master's Degree in Food Science/Microbiology with a thesis on the relevant topic to the project (preferable)

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience:
