Job Description
Undertake a combination of seagoing fieldwork and laboratory work, specifically:
• Prepare and deploy baited longlines.
• Process catch (live release).
• Use acoustic receiver equipment to track fish movements.
• Extract DNA and amplify specific mtDNA loci.
• Maintain project equipment in good working order.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
• M.Sc. in marine biology or ecology.

Preferred Qualification
• M.Sc. in marine biology or ecology.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
• Extensive experience in the capture, tagging and live release of large marine animals.
• Extensive experience with small watercraft, including an official UAE boat captain's license.
• Prior laboratory experience with DNA extraction and PCR.
• Experience with GIS software (QGIS).
• Experience with database software (FileMaker Pro).
• Familiarity with marine-based acoustic tracking technologies.
