Job Description
• The successful applicant will work as a research assistant (RA) on a project studying insecticide resistance in house flies and mosquitos in the UAE.

The RA will do the following tasks:
• Conduct field work including travelling for mosquito and fly sample collection from different areas in the UAE, (2) Conduct laboratory work including insecticide bioassays, sample processing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis and other lab tasks
• Perform data entry into computer and participate in data analysis
• Collect and sort references and participate in manuscript writing
• Work with graduate students in the field and the laboratory as well as with the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre teams
• Organize the laboratory and conduct inventory, and
• Keep track of the laboratory records (purchasing, waste recycling, maintenance).

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
• Master's degree in Entomology or Zoology

Preferred Qualification
• Master's degree in Entomology or Zoology

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
• The successful applicant should have excellent English writing and speaking skills. In addition, the applicant should have good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Has at least one research paper on mosquitoes or house flies published in a first-tier indexed peer-reviewed journal.
