Job Description
Research Assistant Position in Understanding the Role of Lipids in the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the lab of Dr. Nadia Akawi to carry out research focused on the molecular basis of cardiovascular disease. Specifically, the post holder will participate in a project to understand the role of cardiovascular disease high-risk ceramides in redox signaling in the endothelium.

This full time fixed-term post is funded by the United Arab Emirates University for up to 2 years in the first instance and is based at the Department of Genetics and Genomics, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Al-Ain, UAE.

This position is with a salary in the range of AED 84,000- AED 96,000 p.a. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should hold an MSc, or be near completion of an MSc in a relevant subject area and should have experience in the area of cardiovascular biology and/or lipid metabolism.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
You will have extensive experience in the area of reactive oxygen species assays, mass spectrometry and lipids assays, together with experience in basic molecular techniques (such as PCR, Western Blot) and human cell culture techniques. You will have experience of managing your own academic research and associated activities, together with previous experience of publishing original research. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
