Job Description

The pediatric neuromodulation lab at United Arab Emirates University is offering a research assistant position.

The lab focuses on bench to bedside approach to examine brain plasticity, brain dynamics and connectivity of motor and cognitive functions in children with brain injury.

Our goal is to gain a deeper understanding of brain- behavior correlation, map changes in brain plasticity after injury with the ultimate goal of developing individualized and targeted non-invasive neuromodulatory interventions for children with perinatal stroke, hypoxic ischemic injury, traumatic brain injury, and disorders of consciousness.

In our clinical group, we focus on EEG, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and behavioral phenotyping.

For this advertised post, the project will focus on understanding correlates of TMS-EEG in attainment of motor skills in adults with plan to standardize the methodology in children at later stages.

The research assistant will work closely with the PI, Dr Fatima Ismail, and the co-PI, Prof Milos Ljubisavljevic to collect and analyze TMS-EEG data and perform connectivity analysis.

This position will also provide the opportunity to work with international collaborators on existing data sets.

The position is for one year and is subjected to renewal based on performance.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification

- BSc. or MSc. in relevant discipline

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

- Experience with EEG experimental and analytic methods.
- Good programming skills, preferably in Matlab (i.e. EEGlab).
- Strong communication skills including writing manuscripts.
- Demonstrate ability to complete projects, problem-solve and team work.
