Job Description
The Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (KCGEB) was established in 2014 by the United Arab Emirates University and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs aiming to accomplish it as a Center of excellence in genetic engineering of desert plants. The Center is dedicated for the advancement of biotechnology research to develop sustainable desert agro-ecosystem suitable to the arid zones of the world, UAE in particular. The main objective of the research at KCGEB is to develop plants/crops adaptable to the environmental stresses such as drought, temperature, and salinity. The Center uses omics-based research and gene discovery to understand the mechanisms by which important desert plants deal with various stresses, and to exploit the promising candidate genes for the development of stress-tolerant plants/crops. The KCGEB is seeking a Research Assistant Professor in Plant Molecular Physiology to focus on basic research and practical applications of plant molecular Physiology to benefit crop improvement.

Conduct cutting-edge research in plant molecular in line with the main objective of the Center. Accomplish state-of-the-art technologies in molecular Physiology that benefit the improvement of crops-of-interest of the region. Independent planning and accomplishment of molecular Physiology experiments. Designing, management and execution of innovative experiments in laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
PhD in Plant molecular Physiology or in related discipline with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, and a minimum of 3 first-authored and/or corresponding authored papers in peer-reviewed journals of high repute in the last 5 years.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
Strong background in molecular and plant physiology especially in the state-of-the-art RNA-based technologies. Hands on research accomplishment in plant molecular biology on crops leading to the improvement of crops. Outstanding ability to plan and work independently, and also as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and capable of contributing to collaborative projects. Outstanding critical thinking, skills, and excellent written and verbal (English) communication skills. Demonstrated experiences in marker-assisted breeding/SNP/GWAS/sequence analysis are highly preferred.
