Job description / Role
Mott MacDonald is looking for a Resident engineer - tunnelling for the construction supervision for a large water project in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
* Direct the site supervision related to tunnels and associated works
* Coordinate direct activities with the other discipline Resident Engineers to maintain consistency
* Responsible for reviewing all shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, any requests for information relating to the tunnel
* Direct, assist and monitor the performance of the construction team working on the supervision of the construction of the tunnel
* Advise on contractual and construction matters regarding tunnelling
* Supervise, review, monitor and report on progress of the structure/tunnel and associated works.
* Liaise with all parties for site safety
* Convene and chair regular site meetings about issues related to structure/tunnel and associated work and related activities
* Issue additional drawings etc. as required in coordination with the design office
* Ensure prompt and accurate exchange of correspondence and approvals
* Warrant safety goals are achieved and oversee implementation of safety procedures
* Participate in all health and safety issues at site, as required
* Comply with Mott MacDonald's safety, health and risk management standards and processes
* Provide necessary on-site direction and issue site instructions with respect to tunnel and associated work
* Check and measure the performed work and record progress versus the agreed programme
Requirements
* Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University; an internationally recognised Professional Engineering Registration is preferable
* Membership of an accredited, recognised Project Management Institution would be an advantage
* Minimum 15 years' experience in all aspects of supervision of large diameter tunnelling projects, deep underground tunnel structures and marine works
* Must demonstrate his/her experience in respect of the technical proposals evaluation and its constructability, technology deployment and solving technical problems that may arise during construction
* Experience must include all Health & Safety and Environmental Protection aspects of the construction and operation of large diameter tunnelling projects, deep underground structures and marine work
* Must be fluent in English both written and spoken with an excellent capability in written technical skills as well as oral and written communication skills
* Strong leadership quality to lead and motivate a team of engineers and inspectors in a project environment
* Proactive acumen and an ability to manage work at multiple areas on the tunnel site are essential
* Computer skills are mandatory
