We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist with a strong background in pediatric care to join a leading, government-owned children’s hospital in Dubai. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality respiratory therapy services in both acute and long-term care settings, partnering closely with a multidisciplinary pediatric team to improve patient outcomes and support family-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapy treatment and care plans for pediatric patients.
- Provide comprehensive respiratory services, including but not limited to: mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, chest physiotherapy, airway management, and secretion clearance.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, pulmonary function testing, and other respiratory assessments when required.
- Monitor and titrate ventilator settings, respond to alarms, and adjust therapy based on patient response.
- Assist in emergency situations (e.g., respiratory arrest) and support code teams with advanced airway management.
- Provide respiratory rehabilitation services for children who require long-term respiratory support (e.g., chronic lung disease, tracheostomy care).
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on respiratory disease management, equipment use, home ventilation, and safety.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, response to therapy, and discharge or handover plans.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and revise patient care plans.
- Ensure all respiratory therapy equipment is maintained, calibrated, and safe for clinical use; raise concerns about maintenance or supply needs.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental protocols, and continuous education (for staff and families).
Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional license (or eligibility) to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the UAE; relevant health authority licensure (e.g., DHA, DOH) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, specifically in pediatric respiratory care (e.g., neonatal/paediatric ICU, long-term pediatric respiratory units).
- Demonstrated experience in a long-term care respiratory role: managing chronic respiratory conditions, home ventilation, tracheostomy, or rehabilitation is required.
- Certification in life support: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and preferably PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
