Alpha Flight Group Limited is a leading provider of innovative catering and retail services at several international airports. Alpha Flight Services UAE LLC is a dynamic food service company employing 500 employees, operating both business to business services as well as a wide range of generic branded consumer food and beverage outlets. This company is based at Sharjah International Airport.

We currently have an exciting opportunity that has become available for an experienced and qualified Safety Coordinator to join our successful business.

The position:
• To deliver day to day safety advice to all employees to ensure that the workplace is safe. To ensure that the employees have the correct uniform. In addition to ensure that the uniforms are consistently of a high quality.
• Performs and administrates the Safety Training sessions held within the company and gathers information on the monthly statistics reported to dnata Safety.

Responsibilities:
• Develops a schedule for workplace risk assessments, inspections and audits using information from safety performance KPIs and reports, safety observations, safety contacts, and accident investigations to focus on exposure areas with high risk
• Recommends improvements to safety policy, procedures and controls
• Ensures that operational personnel are continually provided with the safety training required to develop their knowledge and skills, in consultation with dnata Safety`
• Provides reports to line department stakeholders on safety performance and KPIs
• Orders the uniforms for new joiners and promotions
• Liaises with vendors and ensuring the quality of the uniforms provided
• Ensures adequate PPE is available for the designated PPE locations
• Ensures there are adequate uniforms for the employees, amount and quality
• Complies with safety policies, standards and procedures, as defined in the dnata Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure that safety processes are integrated into normal operational procedures
• Liaises with dnata Safety for sharing lessons learned and to receive training on the latest best practices and toolkits required to perform the job effectively
• Liaises with leaders and the workforce on safety developments, issues and initiatives, acting as a link between the two groups to ensure communications are received, heard and understood
• Develops and coaches supervisors and the workforce on their role of safety, assisting them in reducing exposures to risk of injury and/or damages
• Champions initiatives driven from One Safety by acting as ambassadors for culture change to ensure that the dnata safety vision is delivered
• Ensures monthly inventory is taken and all stock accounted for.
• Conducts workplace risk assessments, inspections and audits, and provides corrective actions and follow-up to ensure necessary changes are implemented
• Assists the investigation of moderate and minor injuries and aircraft damage incidents, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to identify contributing factors and root causes
• Supports the implementation of safety codes of practice, life-saving rules and safety shut-down / pause procedures
• Recommends improvements to Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Work Instructions (WIs) and training materials to ensure that the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Controls (HIRAC) are up-to-date and managed
• Relays safety information related to incidents and exposures to risk through safety briefings, bulletins and alerts to increase the awareness in safety
• Conducts Safety Training sessions for the employees’ education.
• Issues the relevant uniforms for the employees when required.

Requirements

• Safety qualification (NEBOSH IGC or equivalent) or 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Good Communication skills
• Knowledgeable with catering or airport operations preferred
• Experience with Risk Assessment processes
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
